Doing business successfully starts with registration

We also work together on a regular basis with furniture designers who often have their own small businesses. Sure, they are very busy but that is no excuse to forget to register, and therefore protect, their beautiful designs.”

How do I register my design?

You can file a design (submit an application) by filing in a form and paying the required fees. You can print out the form (in Dutch or French), the annexes for a multiple design application (in Dutch or French), and explanatory notes (in Dutch or French). After you have filled in the forms you can send them to us by post or fax or submit them to us in person. A summary of the legal fees can be found here.

When submitting a design application it is very important that you use clear representations. After all, the protection of a design is based exclusively on the representations in the register and not on what the product looks like in reality. You should therefore make sure that all the characteristics to be protected are clearly visible on the representations, for example by showing your design from different angles.
