The Splash Awards ceremony took place in Utrecht on 22 March. Splash Awards commend outstanding websites, tools and apps built with Drupal. Drupal is an open source technology and boasts a vibrant community of developers who share their Drupal applications. The annual ceremony in the Dutch-language area is held by the Drupal Foundation in the Netherlands, which is in turn part of the international Drupal Association. Awards are bestowed on successful Drupal projects, an important measure of that success being the significance of the developers' contribution to the Drupal community.
The BOIP website was developed in 2017 by internet firm SWIS, based in Leiden. SWIS was nominated for the BOIP website in the Non-Profit category and we are very proud to announce that our website scooped the Splash Award! The jury notably found our site to be the most "user-centred". SWIS's contribution to the Drupal community naturally also weighed heavily in this success.
Having collected the award, we were once again taken by surprise when our website was nominated for Website of the Year alongside three others. Although we did not win the highest accolade in the end, being nominated was a great compliment as it signifies that our site attained high scores on all evaluation criteria. Having bagged the Dutch prize, SWIS and the BOIP website are now a contender for the European-level Splash Awards.
