Renew a trademark registration

A trademark registration is valid for ten years counting from the filing date. The registration can be renewed for an unlimited number of successive ten-year periods. In principle, therefore, a trademark can be protected for ever.

However, you do need to ensure that your registration is renewed. We send reminders to the address referred to in the register. However, failure to receive a reminder, for whatever reason, does not entitle you to any rights. Renewing your registration on time is and remains your own responsibility!

You can renew your trademark registration from six months before the expiry date up to six months after the expiry date. To do this, click on the ‘Renew your trademark directly’ button to the right and make your payment.

Note: Renewing your trademark after the expiry date is subject to an additional fee.

Any change to your trademark registration details, such as a change of address, should be made separately.
